Hope you all had a Merry Christmas celebrating Jesus' birth! We enjoyed both of our families and we are so thankful to have everyone healthy and happy!
This pic is from my church, Kirk of the Hills (please visit their site!!), and the word, Anticipated, is thread on nails. They do a great job of advertising each sermon series. We all remember the anticipation of Christmas morning to see how much Santa brings from our lists. We celebrated Christmas with both families here in Tulsa! We are still cleaning up after the fun at our house. Hope your Christmas was merry and bright! The reason for the season is Jesus, the greatest gift of all. We had another eventful Halloween trick or treating. Julie dressed as an Indian Princess this year. Beau seems to be a little to old for trick or treating as he went to a party and Jack dressed as superman and ran around with a group of girls in tutus. Many of the dads saw him and said, " Wow, he really is Superman." Now I get to go through and eat all of their Almond Joys. Jack and Julie have tons of candy yet I'm not sure they are willing to share any of it with their older brother. It seems we can never have enough! Philippians 4:11 "Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content." Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off you. He opens you up, touches you deep in side and scoops out all the yucky stuff--including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see. This was passed onto me from another pumpkin. Plesae pass this on to a fellow pumpkin or share with your kids as you enjoy making pumpkins for Halloween! Trick or Treat! "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation" 2 Corinthians 5:17a So thankful to be able to say we had a great weekend. BK Class '88 reunion kicked off at the BK McAlester Friday night football game. It was great to see a lot of alumni from my class and many thanks to those who traveled in for the event. Saturday morning was the second session of elder training at Kirk of the Hills church for the position I will be serving for the next three years. My daughter had another great soccer game that morning-thanks to Coaches Roy and Steve!! The afternoon was filled with a workout at the gym then a hard fought win by Jenks Black 7th grade football over Bixby (at Bixby). The team has really stuck together through a tough season-good luck in the playoffs. We capped off Sunday with Sunday school, church and afternoon events including a cousin’s 4th birthday party and a trip to Turkey Mtn. The picture is from Beau and I riding the trails together-I’m very impressed with his ability amongst the rocks and roots. Blessings to all as we wrap up October; Please be safe on Halloween and head into holiday season!! So, did I tell you Jack decided to play football this year! He hadn't played since 3rd grade and he decided to pick up the game again. If you didn't know Jenks Football is BIG! Their high school is ranked #1 in the State. They groom these athletes from Kindergarten. We lucked out getting on Jenks Black football team with fabulous coaches. It has been an exciting season to watch and Jack has been successful as he has 2 touchdowns to his fame and two interceptions, one of them a pic 6 (I'm not sure what that means but you football fans will know). I wanted to post a video of one of his catches but the best I can show you is Jack getting a hug from a pom pom girl because I can't get the video to load!! Luke 2:52 And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
Thanks to a little rain, cancelled football and soccer practice we were able to enjoy a family dinner! The kids enjoyed cooking their food at the Melting Pot. The best part was dipping the desserts in the chocolate. This was quite and experience. It was great to catch up on the middle school drama and hear about what is going on in our kids lives. The funniest part was at the end of dinner when the kids noticed the table next to us had left dessert pieces and we still had chocolate. Our sinful nature said, "Go get it", the temptation was huge! Proud of our kids as they didn't try to sneak the next table's food. And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. Romans 7:18 Mike and I recently joined SKY http://sky-fit.com/clubs. Although Mike does miss the true Cross-fit box gym this seemed like a perfect match for us with one location near our house and one near work. I join my sister for workouts of body-pump and yoga/pilates while Mike does his own WODs of Crossfit. I should mention I tried Zumba for the first time this month an the teacher is fantastic. She can really move and it is a new favorite.
