How is a Christian like a Pumpkin?

10/29/2013

Picture

Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin.  God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off you.  He opens you up, touches you deep in side and scoops out all the yucky stuff--including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc.  Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see.  This was passed onto me from another pumpkin.  Plesae pass this on to a fellow pumpkin or share with your kids as you enjoy making pumpkins  for Halloween!
Trick or Treat!

Great Weekend!!

10/28/2013

Picture
So thankful to be able to say we had a great
weekend.  BK Class '88 reunion kicked off at the BK McAlester Friday night
football game.  It was great to see
a lot of alumni from my class and many thanks to those who traveled in for the
event.  Saturday morning was the
second session of elder training at Kirk of the Hills church for the position I
will be serving for the next three years.
My daughter had another great soccer game that morning-thanks to Coaches
Roy and Steve!!  The afternoon was
filled with a workout at the gym then a hard fought win by Jenks Black
7th grade football over
Bixby (at Bixby).  The team has
really stuck together through a tough season-good luck in the playoffs.  We capped off
Sunday with Sunday school, church and afternoon events including a cousin’s
4th birthday party and a
trip to Turkey Mtn.  The picture
is from Beau and I riding the trails together-I’m very impressed with his
ability amongst the rocks and roots.
Blessings to all as we wrap up October; Please be
safe on Halloween and head into holiday season!!

My sister and I took this dresser from my garage and turned it into the perfect dresser for Julie's room last weekend.  This dresser has been in the family for years as it was my Grandpa Beau's when he was alive.  New hardware and a fresh coat of paint - it looks new!  I hope to get a glass topper so Julie can put pictures under it.  Now I just need to find a mirror!

Jenks 7th grade Football - #23

10/23/2013

So, did I tell you Jack decided to play football this year!  He hadn't played since 3rd grade and he decided to pick up the game again.  If you didn't know Jenks Football is BIG!  Their high school is ranked #1 in the State.  They groom these athletes from Kindergarten.  We lucked out getting on Jenks Black football team with fabulous coaches.  It has been an exciting season to watch and Jack has been successful as he has 2 touchdowns to his fame and two interceptions, one of them a pic 6 (I'm not sure what that means but you football fans will know). I wanted to post a video of one of his catches but the best I can show you is Jack getting a hug from a pom pom girl because I can't get the video to load!!

Family Dinners are hard to come by these days.

10/16/2013

Thanks to a little rain, cancelled football and soccer practice we were able to enjoy a family dinner!  The kids enjoyed cooking their food at the Melting Pot.  The best part was dipping the desserts in the chocolate.  This was quite and experience.  It was great to catch up on the middle school drama and hear about what is going on in our kids lives.  The funniest part was at the end of dinner when the kids noticed the table next to us had left dessert pieces and we still had chocolate.  Our sinful nature said, "Go get it", the temptation was huge!  Proud of our kids as they didn't try to sneak the next table's food.

And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. Romans 7:18

Michelle's Famous Brisket

10/11/2013

Put Brisket in foil pan Fat side up.  Pour 1 bottle of Lawrys teriyaki marinade on the brisket.  Rub approx.  1/4 to 1/2 cup on brown sugar  over the top of the brisket then sprinkle generously with fresh chopped garlic Shake pepper over it and cover with foil.  Bake at 275 for 4 hours at least depending on the size of the brisket it may need longer.  Once done trim the fat off the top and slice with an electric knife.  Pour the remaining juice in to a saucepan and bring to a boil.  Mix corn starch and water and pour into juice to thicken, then pour over the sliced brisket in the pan.   This part is kind of messy but it's worth it!  Enjoy!

Mating Mealworms for Lizard and Frog Cages

10/9/2013

Beau has had an experiment going on in our house for the past month.  He has a large terrarium cage full of salamanders, lizards and frog which I will post for you on a future date.  These creatures eat LOTS of mealworms and the boys buy them from the pet store. It can be quite costly as they don't exactly make a whole lot of money right now.  They have solved their problem....mating mealworms.  Beau bought a three drawer plastic container and above you can see the three stages.  Egg - Larva(mealworm) - Pupa - Adult (Beatle) - Egg( Repeat).  This little science experiment has proven to be a success and cost effective for my kids!

For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not first sit down, and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?  Luke 14:28
