![]() So proud of my son, Jack, since his artwork was chosen for the yearbook. Sure wish I had some artistic talent!! Happy Memorial Day weekend.
Last week both boys made the Jenks Basketball teams for 8th grade and 9th grade next year. We are so blessed to have an opportunity to play for such great coaches! We are glad tryouts are over and we are ready for school to be out next Friday. Julie's soccer team won 1st place in a tournament this weekend at Union fields. Julie played goalie for most of the games and did an outstanding job. Way to go Hot Shots!
![]() For a long time I have been meaning to share my favorite websites and I just came across a new one today that I wanted to share-Click Here to check out 2nd Vote and learn how you can vote every day and support the values you want to preserve. Fancy accounting and hidden agendas are everywhere and it is important to understand what your money is supporting. I have been teaching my children to "follow the money" to see what is really important to a person or organization. ![]() Wednesday, Julie was Mia Hamm, the soccer star. She has a minute and ½ speech she memorized and shared with other parents from the class. You can view it below. I was so impressed with everyone's posters and their costumes for the live wax museum. Julie worked on this project for over a month. She learned how to utilize Google Chrome, make graphs and timelines. 4th grade is a lot harder these days then when we were in school. Way to go Jenks Trojans! ![]() I rode my bicycle to meet John today and it was a pleasure getting to know him. He has been featured on Channel 8 and I lost count of how many people waved and said hello in the short time I was with him!! He has been committed to being in the community and sharing the truth and light of the saving grace of Jesus. Keep him and his efforts to start a church in your prayers. Julie turned 10 this week! She is growing up so fast. Here is a picture of Mike and her before they went to the girl scouts father/daughter dance. They had a great time and attend an event like this every year. What a great daddy!! She is a lucky girl!
![]() The boys both went out for Track this year and they have competed quite well. These medals are all from Spring 2014 track meets. They both compete in High Jump and Pole Vaulting. They run in a few events too but I can't keep track. Most of their medals are in the field events. Both boys made the all conference team. This was a big deal for Jack as he had to beat out 8th graders in order to compete. He pole vaulted 8 feet and jumped 5'0 in high jump to qualify. Beau is so excited to pole vault in the competition next week. He hopes to make 9ft this go around. Most of the meets are during the school day which stinks for us parents as Mike and I have both been working but honestly they are a little boring and long unless your kid is performing. Julie is now playing goalie in soccer and has done a fantastic job. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Just wanted to update you on what we have been up to. May you prepare your hearts for this passion week ahead as we look forward to Easter Sunday! ![]() Back to the grind this week! We enjoyed a relaxing week of activities. The boys participated in Tulsa Missions with Kirk of the Hills Church the first part of Spring Break and then we drove out to Rockbridge, MO to The Trout Ranch. We all had a wonderful time! We had to stop Beau from fishing because he was catching too many! I even caught 4 trout on a fly rod! I made my daddy proud! It was great to have some family time and enjoy each other. We played lots of games - Rummy cub, Euchre, and Pictionary are our favorite! Julie loves games so she was in heaven. Now we are back to school, work and athletic practices. Family time is a little hard to come by with the beginning of track season, start of soccer and basketball is still going on for Jack. I am ready for this season of life to slow down...will it ever? We are excited about the game this Saturday. Jenks Mustangs (Jack's team) play Jenks Air for the Championship game for INBC (Indian Nations Basketball Conference) It is remarkable that two Jenks teams are playing for the championships. This 7th grade class is full of amazing athletes.
In the midst of my prayers for more family time, God provided with many snow days. Be careful what you ask for. We are a little crazy with cabin fever and I can't wait till Spring. Hope you are preparing your hearts for Easter Sunday and recalling the days leading up to Jesus death and resurrection. |
